Hi neighbor

We created Buy Local Minnesota because, like you, we love our Twin Cities community, and we want to see it thrive.

A little about us...

Kayla is a single mom and gardener who dreams about growing more of her own food from locally bought seeds, buying holiday gifts from a small Minnesota business, and making it easier to support small businesses instead of defaulting to Amazon at 9pm after an exhausting day.

Brice just bought his first home and suddenly needed tools, home goods, supplies — all the   things that magically end up in an online cart. He wanted to furnish and maintain his home in a way that supported local businesses, not mega-corporations.

We officially became family when Brice married Kayla’s sister in a charming backyard wedding in St Paul — and this whole project was born during a conversation about community over Sunday family brunch at a local café on Grand Avenue.

It always starts over coffee, right?

It wasn’t that we didn’t want to buy local in our everyday lives.

It’s that it’s not always easy to know where to start.

We’ve felt how easy it is to default to convenience. Even when we want something better for our families, our neighborhoods, and our future.

So we built Buy Local Minnesota to make the better choice easier.

Our goal?

To turn this directory into the most epic, easiest way to find local sources for everything you need — from seeds to books to tools to gifts — and to connect you to amazing events that actually build community.

Because this isn’t just about shopping.

It’s about neighbors supporting neighbors.
It’s about choosing community over mega-corporate greed.

We believe one of the biggest challenges in our country right now is the growing power of mega-corporations and the shrinking power of local communities. When money leaves our neighborhoods, so does influence, resilience, and connection.

But here’s the hopeful part:

By switching just one purchase this week to a local business, you’re strengthening your community!

One choice at a time, we build something better.

This isn’t just a website.

It’s a small shift toward a stronger local economy — and we’re so glad you’re here for it.

Together, we believe we can change the world.

Kayla & Brice
